It can be so difficult to let go of things that remind us of strong memories.

How about this one?
My mom kept both my original ballet slippers and tiny tap shoes.

She's gone, the shoes remain. But, they're in a closet. I don't want to display them. Yet I can't seem to get rid of them. Ugh!
