31 Days To a More Organized Life: Day 3 - "Waxing Poetic"

Welcome to Day 3.

You can catch up with the rest of the 31 days series here.

"Tasks that take 31 Minutes or less to make your life...just a little bit easier!"

Today's 31 min task is a quickie.
Might only take you 15 min. Depends on how much you enjoy candles.

Some of us have as many candles as we do cookbooks, or shades of left-over blue eye shadow from the 70s. Pillars, tea lights, votives - stuck in nooks and crannies. Christmas candles in the credenza with the snowmen decorations. Cinnamon-scented goodies saved in a ziplock - stored in a little used corner of the kitchen.

Well, today's the day.
Victory over the votives is YOURS!
Seriously, gather up all your candles and find them a real home.

I use my tealights practically every evening. Orange-scented one day, green apple the next. So, I keep them handy - they live in a couple of vintage cheese boxes in full display.

I'd like to tell you we had enough storage to dedicate a full drawer to the rest of the candle collection. Yeah, right. In reality, they share space with some electronic equipment and games that we like to have close by. But, the point is I can find them in a snap.

Lastly, do you have some emergency candles?
Do you keep yours next to the party hats, too?
(As long as you know where they are, it really doesn't matter...)

About 10 years ago I bought a handful of short pillars at a party store on clearance. And, they keep going and going. They burn bright and they are unscented - both pretty important to me when we lose power. You see, I stick each pillar on a saucer and spread them out throughout the room. (Yeah, they go on cute little vintage saucers, but use what you've got.) The fact they are unscented means that we aren't overpowered while we play board games by candlelight. (Sure we could use our battery-powered camping lanterns. But, we like candle-light.)
