Welcome to Day 1!

Ever have the feeling that you ran around all day,
yet somehow you didn’t accomplish one thing?

Today’s an easy one.
Take 31 minutes – or whatever spare time you have...to dream.

Autumn is underway. What do you want for this season?
If you can envision it, you have a much better chance of getting there.

Think about cozy.
Where did you pack your throw blankets from last season? Time to pop them in the laundry to freshen them up. (At our house we have a quilt that is crazy big and keeps everyone on the couch all snuggly. And, there’s a giant quilt pillow to fight over.)

Are you a fan of flannel sheets? Not a fan of plaid? They come in so many more colors and patterns nowadays. Snatch them up online using Nextag and Bizrate to comparison shop. Flannel sheets are a great way to keep warm even when you turn down the heat.

Speaking of saving money, do you have thermal lined curtains? Personally I have a big old crush on the Country Curtains online store – probably because they send out such cute catalogs. Do you have a draft catcher? They come in handy and you can find easy tutorials online if you have a youngster who likes craft projects.

Lastly, think entertainment. We really like curling up watching movies with hot chocolate and popcorn. (Yes, together!) Maybe a couple of bean bags are just what the family needs to get all warm and cozy this autumn.

Handy Tips:
Bed, Bath and Beyond coupons never expire - just ignore the date on them. So, keep your eyes peeled on the mailbox. You can use as many coupons in a transaction as you’d like. And, if you buy something and don’t have a coupon (like when I ask my husband to stop there) just save the receipt. Stop at the service desk on your next visit, hand them your receipt and a coupon and they’ll give you the savings in cash. You can sign up for e-mail coupons, too.

Like Pottery Barn?
Who doesn’t? I like PB even better when I can get free shipping!

I'm a big fan of Lands’ End.
You can return pretty much anything at any time without a receipt. (They keep a great database so if your dog eats your homework receipt, they can usually find the info you need to return or exchange your item. Get on their e-mail list and they send you great discounts with free shipping on a regular basis. As in "all the time."

We're answering the invitation from The Nester's 31 Days Series - you can read more about her invitation here.

Stop back tomorrow!

We'll see when we'll work on finding lost cash...
And making your wallet SMALLER - in a GOOD way!

Miss anything?

I didn't know that BBB coupons never expire - thank you! Now when you say I can use as many as I want in a transaction - what??? So if I have a $5 off coupon and a 20% off coupon, how do I use both? Do I have to buy at least two items and one coupon attaches to each item??

Dana @ Cooking At Cafe D said...

Hi Sharon,
Each region seems to get different values of coupons. Here in the Chicagoland area, we seem to get "$5 off purchase of $15 of more and "20% of any item" coupons. (My sis in Michigan usually sees "15% off" - not 20% off.)

Sometimes you are lucky and get a "20% off YOUR ENTIRE PURCHASE" coupons.

Usually, I have found that BBB will take any combo of the $5 off and "15% or 20 % off 1 item" coupons. Have 8 things in your cart? Hand 8 them coupons. Cool, eh?

When you are lucky enough to get the "20% off your entire purchase" coupons, they normally take just that one.

Does that help?

BTW, I tried to response directly by mail but your default blogger setting is set to no-reply. (MANY bloggers have this set and don't mean to.)

If you want to change that, here's a post that will tell you how! http://www.cookingatcafed.com/2011/09/blog-tip-you-dont-even-knowits-not.html

Interesting tip for BBB. I think their prices are high but if there is a good coupon I am game.

I did know that BB&B coupons didn't expire, but I didn't think about buying something and then coming back with the coupon. I have had to make a second trip back so many times just because I didn't have my coupon with me! I love anything to do with organization so I am really looking forward to your tips this month!

@Kristina -
I'm so glad you found us.
The tips I'm sharing this month are certainly not rocket science. But, they have made things a lot easier in our home. Hopefully, they will do the same for yours!

@DogsMom - Yep,I feel the same about some of their prices. Their selection - especially in the kitchen section - is what brings me back.
